Meet Me
Hi, my name is Matt Voorhees and throughout my life I have nurtured a deep love and appreciation for history. I hold a B.A. in History from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and I am currently working towards my M.S. in Information Science with a concentration in Archives and Records Administration at SUNY Albany.
When I was 10 years old, I started researching my family history for a school project that involved interviewing a relative about their life.
I selected my great grandmother for the project. I wrote her a letter asking about her experiences and our familial connections. When her reply arrived, it was filled with names and essential details of relatives I had never met, and my passion for family history was ignited.
Since then, I have dedicated nearly 15 years to unearthing the stories of my ancestors who walked this earth long before me. Piece by piece, I have woven together the stories of individuals who may have faded into the past but remain an integral part of my family’s story. Each discovery has brought me closer to understanding my roots.
